Different types of Punjabi Suits in India

Punjabi suits are mostly famous for their reliability and efficiency. They are a huge craze among the worldwide clients. In fact, they are the most sought after piece of cloth by the designers as they provide ample space and opportunities to them to experiment with the designs.

Punjabi suits, popularly known as salwar kameez is mostly worn in Punjab. The Punjabis have different types of suits for different seasons. During the spring season, people wear colourful Punjabi suits. This trend continues till the end of the summer season.

One basic character of Punjabi suits is that they are designed with beautiful embroideries like phulkari etc. It is very comfortable attire and is equally popular among women of different age groups and sizes. This attire is the most popular in the central Asia.

There are three main parts of any Punjabi Suits- salwar, kameez and dupatta. A kameez is a knee length kurta. Its sides are left open below the naval. In a salwar, the legs are wide on the top and tight at the bottom and the legs are pleated at the waist in to a waistband. A string is used to fasten the salwar around the waist. It is very comfortable to wear and gives enough room for leg movement also. Punjabi Dupatta is popularly called as the odhani. It is a long scarf or shawl generally worn around the neck or over the head. It is also worn across both shoulders. Women wear Punjabi Jutti with these suits to get a complete Punjabi look.

A Punjabi suit is such that it can be worn in daily life as well as for special occasions like parties, weddings etc. They are available in many designs, sizes and colors and look good on women of any age group. It is a unique piece of clothing and makes every women wearing it look beautiful.
